Our Logistics & Supply Chain work is often described as the "backbone" of our field programming

When humanitarian conflicts hit the headlines, we hope and expect that rescue and resources are rapidly and effectively applied to help affected individuals. Logistics seeks to reduce as rapidly as possible or prevent the unnecessary suffering and delays that slow responses and inefficiencies can lead to.

With 60-80% of the humanitarian cost going into the supply chain, logistics teams and their work have a direct and significant impact on the number of lives saved.

Hear about Logistics & Supply Chain profiles and stories...
Jonathan, one of our Logistics Officers shares about his work, challenges and more

What is involved in Humanitarian Logistics & Supply Chain within Medair?

  • Procurement
  • Transport / Travel
  • Stock Management

"The logistics required to operate a successful campaign are especially difficult in a hot and isolated area. There is no electricity and communication is only possible via satellite phone. One helicopter per week is scheduled to land unless Medair arranges a special charterplane." Sarah, Communication Officer, South Sudan
